Most business websites don't fail loudly. They fail quietly: visitors arrive, look around and leave without calling. In cricket terms, it's not a wicket. It's a dropped catch. Here's the five-point review we run, the same one behind our Roast My Website tool.
Check 1: does it load in under 3 seconds on a phone?
India now has about 958 million active internet users, and most of them are on phones. Google's own research found that 53% of mobile visitors leave a page that takes longer than three seconds to load. Google's "good" mark for the main content (Largest Contentful Paint) is 2.5 seconds or less. Test your site free with Google's PageSpeed Insights, or let us do it with a roast on top: Roast My Website. Heavy images and bloated themes are the usual culprits.
Check 2: is there a WhatsApp or call button on every screen?
In India, a lot of deals start with one tap on WhatsApp. If your visitor has to scroll to a "Contact Us" page and fill a long form, you've made the easiest step the hardest.
Check 3: does the first line say what you do for the customer?
"Welcome to our website" says nothing. "Home painting in Talegaon, done in days" says everything. Your first line should tell visitors what you do, for whom, and why you. It also helps Google understand the page.
Check 4: has it been updated in the last 12 months?
An old copyright year, last year's offers or a dead blog tell visitors nobody's home. Fresh, useful content also helps SEO.
Check 5: do enquiries land somewhere someone actually checks?
We've seen contact forms sending to an inbox nobody opens. Every enquiry should land in WhatsApp, an email someone reads daily, or a simple CRM with follow-ups.
The decision
| Score | Third umpire says |
|---|---|
| 0–1 | OUT. Visitors leave before they ever call you. Time for a rebuild. |
| 2–3 | Dropped catch. It looks fine and sells nothing. A few fixes and it starts earning. |
| 4–5 | Not out. Solid innings. Next: make it work harder with automation or a CRM. |
